I really enjoyed my time at Soul hostel. The room was very spacious and there was plenty of area to chill out and meet people. A special mention goes to volunteer Yousuf from Bangalore. As a foreign solo traveller, he went out of his way to make me feel comfortable and put in an amazing amount of effort into creating a social atmosphere for myself and the other guests. He also did a great job of decorating the hostel for a Christmas. I would definitely recommend this place.

The overall experience was below average. Firstly they were quick to ask for pre-payment for the booking but had to follow up 4 times to get a confirmation of the booking with them after sharing the payment screenshot every time. The Google location of the place isn't correct and the contact person didn't share the location after asking multiple times on WhatsApp. The receptionist was cold and didn't show any hospitality. Asked for the remaining 10% payment even before giving the keys. The rooms are okay but the spring mattresses literally caused pain in our backs and we couldn't sleep after 3:30 am in the morning. During the check out we asked for an extension of half an hour as we had to get a massage because of back pain but the only reply we got was to pay an extra fee which is 200 bucks per hour. We literally packed our backs in 7 minutes and checked out as the vibe was so negative of the management.

Soul made my trip complete in Varkala. Although I've been there many times in Varkala, I tried Soul this time and got a wonderful experience. Hosts were great, suggested party to crash in and activities happening nearby. It has a cafe to keep on chilling , playing games, music, meeting travellers, watching sea n sunset, food is available all day long, in addition they have their own lawn and halls to chill and relax. Mine was a mixed bed room equipped with ac and it was nice in terms of cleanliness, and overall comfort, for privacy they got curtains and a personal locker. Creativity is everywhere whether it's with food garnishing or with wall graffiti or hanging decors. Have a soulful stay.

My visit to Varkala was delightful, particularly my stay at Soul. The hosts ( Ajay and Anjali ) were incredibly polite and humble, creating a warm atmosphere. The accommodation was not only budget-friendly but also maintained high hygiene standards. What made it even better was its proximity to the black sand beach. Overall, my experience at Soul was amazing, providing an affordable and pleasant stay. I highly recommend it for those seeking a comfortable and pocket-friendly accommodation near the beautiful beach in Varkala.

Had a really fun experience at Soul, met some really nice fellow travelers and made some really good friends. It’s an amazing place to meet people. The space is well made and is very affordable too. The manager Salmaan was very welcoming and helpful. The volunteers also helped us with recommendations for places to go to at Varkala. The property is located at a walkable distance from the main cliff in Varkala which makes is very accessible. Definitely will recommend to go stay at Soul.

The separate rooms are not maintained well to the point the common restrooms are better, there is no cleaning service and the guy at the front desk is quite annoying and rude.... …

The Front Desk Manager (tall North Indian guy) at this property molested my female solo traveler friend recently during her stay in early November 2023. Travelers shouldn't have to face this anywhere. For travelers: Please be careful. For management: please take immediate action.
